About the role

The Manufacturing Production Supervisor is a key member of the Corporate Manufacturing Team responsible for exercising independent judgment and discretion in managing the production lines for which he or she is charged with, and in supervising the employees working on those production lines or otherwise under his or her supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the work of employees assigning tasks and positions as necessary.
  • Evaluate employees and provide input as to whether they should be retained in or advanced from the labor pool or production positions or should be removed from positions to which they had been promoted.
  • Correct employees as necessary, initiate discipline, initiate work performance and conduct-related corrective actions and recommend suspensions and terminations as necessary.
  • Deal with employee concerns and complaints and refer them to upper management or other resources when appropriate.
  • Assure that the attire of the employees is in line with company policy.
  • Gather information before the start of the shift from the previous shift supervisors and plant superintendent on production schedule status and if there are any raw material or machine issues/problems as well as communicate such information to the incoming supervisors and plant superintendent of the next shift.
  • Check emails at the beginning and end of every shift.
  • Manage production work assignments and filling out crewing rosters and other paperwork as necessary including but not limited to production reports, assignment reports, and clean up reports.
  • Ensure that the lines for which they are responsible run efficiently, and that the total output of those lines is acceptable to management.
  • Perform flavor changeovers and supervise all employees involved in that process during the changeover and ensure that flavor changeover is “in-range/on target” under applicable standards.
  • Follow Prerequisite and Food Safety Programs (Screen Checks) as required for audits.
  • Supervise employees in the labor pool who are not assigned to work on a production line.
  • Manage employees and the production areas in a manner consistent with Good Manufacturing Practices in an effort to maintain the facility to a standard that would be conducive to an audit environment.
  • Ensure that supplies and materials are delivered to the lines in a timely fashion.
  • Coordinate with Quality Control on any quality issues that arise and meet on any issues if needed.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance on any mechanical issues that arise and meet on any issues if needed.
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion in dealing with problems that arise on the lines, and involving management and/or upper management as necessary.
  • Must enforce and adhere to all applicable policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that employees are properly trained on all production tasks.
  • Ensure that employees timely complete quarterly training curriculum, including but not limited to web-based and facilitated training.
  • Communicate with employees as needed.
  • FOLLOW FOOD SAFETY: Required to follow the Good manufacturing Program GMPs as listed in Code of Federal Regulations CFR 21 section 110. Requires participation in various Food Safety related training that Buffalo Rock utilizes. Required to report potential issues related to Food Safety.
  • CARRY OUT OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

Supervisory responsibilities

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; making recommendations regarding changes in status.

Required education and experience

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED: Required
  • Associate degree: Preferred
  • Experience: 5 plus years of supervisory experience; Required
  • Computer Skills: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs including: SharePoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

Tools and Technology

  • Tools: Mobile phones, desktop/laptop computers, scanners
