About the role
This role focuses on leading assembly execution engineering activities for automatic transmission programs at a major manufacturing site in Toledo.
Responsibilities
- Lead assembly execution for automatic transmission programs at the Toledo facility, ensuring all launch deliverables meet customer expectations.
- Carefully coordinate the installation, debug, runoff, and PPAP of assembly equipment for assigned programs.
- Create and lead in-plant runoff planning, including organizing and conducting runoff parts meetings.
- Validate error-proofing plans and update PFMEAs to ensure robust quality and safety controls.
- Develop and lead PPAP review meetings using standardized PPAP checklists.
- Provide regular updates to the Execution Manager on equipment installation, runoff progress, and PPAP status.
- Lead the closure of all manufacturing engineering open issues related to launch deliverables.
- Organize and lead lessons-learned activities and provide feedback to process engineers for BOE/BOP updates.
- Support plant floor equipment installation activities in coordination with OEMs and contractors.
- Complete plant floor debug and runoff activities to ensure equipment readiness for production.
- Lead red tag, yellow tag, and green tag sign-off activities to verify equipment readiness and compliance.
- Establish and maintain an equipment installation board and review status daily or weekly with OEMs and contractors.
- Ensure all launch deliverables align with final customer requirements and internal standards.
- Participate in shutdown and weekend work as required to meet program milestones and launch timelines.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in manufacturing engineering with a focus on execution activities such as equipment installation, debug, runoff, and launch support.
- Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing processes required to support general assembly and testing of automatic transmissions.
- 2+ years of professional experience working with AutoDesk products.
- Bachelor’s degree (Engineering preferred) or equivalent experience.
- Hands-on experience with PFMEA development and maintenance.
- Experience with tooling and assembly line equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in continuous improvement within a manufacturing setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience with assembly systems, including presses and camera-based inspection or error-proofing systems.
- Knowledge of drive unit and electric drive assembly processes.
- Experience with tooling design, selection, or implementation in a production environment.
- Familiarity with structured launch processes, PPAP methodologies, and checklists.
- Strong communication and coordination skills for working with process engineers, construction teams, safety teams, focus factory engineers, launch teams, OEMs, and contractors.
- Capability to lead cross-functional meetings, track open issues, and drive timely closure.
- Ability to interpret and apply lessons learned to update BOE/BOP and other process documentation.
