About the role

Manufacturing Engineering Planners write detailed work instructions to support factory operations and provide hands-on assistance on the shop floor. They ensure engineering requirements are incorporated into builds, production data is properly recorded, and non-conformance dispositions are managed. This role also involves manufacturing shop assistance, shipside support, and build plan development. Senior planners help develop build plans at the cell and factory level.

You will support program execution for the New Glenn orbital launch vehicle, providing training and support for Manufacturing Engineering processes, including mBOM creation, change notice submittal, work order authoring, engineering change implementation, nonconformance processing, BOM reconciliation, and work order execution. You will also oversee the creation and maintenance of manufacturing plans, author and execute work orders for outplant processing, and maintain manufacturing engineering metrics and schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Leads at the cell level the development, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing plans, Bill of Materials, work instructions, and illustrations to define and document as-built configuration of major production hardware.
  • Leads at the cell level the development and integration of suppliers, processes, materials, data, and technology to meet manufacturing and delivery requirements.
  • Leads the reviewing of supplier data to ensure manufacturing-related requirements are met.
  • Develops tooling requirements and initiates tooling orders based on manufacturing and engineering requirements.
  • Leads tooling dispositions.
  • Investigates and resolves manufacturing-related issues of a broad scope.
  • Participates in producibility assessments for part or product designs.
  • Provides input to design, manufacturing processes, and manufacturing technologies to meet costs and schedules at the cell level.
  • Develops work statements and sequencing of events to support delivery commitments for major hardware.
  • Reviews, maintains, and monitors internal documents and schedules.
  • Provides shipside support.
  • Functions as an individual contributor or as part of a cross-functional team; helps train junior teammates.

Requirements

  • HS/GED/Equivalent required.
  • Associate Degree or trade school in a related discipline and/or 7+ years of manufacturing planner or production experience, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Understanding of Project Management, Lean Six Sigma, or lean methods.
  • Intermediate experience with P6 or other GANTT-style project management tools.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical knowledge in one or more disciplines.
  • Expert understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Ability to lead independent contributors and cross-functional teams.
  • Expertise with Manufacturing & CAD Software (e.g., Jules, CMES, Velocity, Enovia, Delmia, CATIA, CREO).
  • Proactive, service-oriented individual with excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
