Responsibilities
- Set up and operate heavy-duty power equipment to bend, form, stretch and straighten a variety of products / materials such as plates, extrusions, structural shapes, etc. as specified by blueprints, layout, and templates.
- Perform duties required to assist setup and operate multiple automatic and/or multi-slide equipment performing simultaneous processes for a variety of products.
- Ability to understand and work from drawings, order / route sheets, schedules, written, and verbal instructions.
- Check material for correct size, type, identification, configuration and color.
- Absorb and adjust dies, movable and stationary equipment, forming blocks, adjust stroke and feed as needed.
- Competent use of micrometers, calipers, scales, tape measures, calculators and fixed gauges to check work in process and ensure adherence to specifications.
- Move materials in the performance of duties using pallet jack, lift truck or crane (if PIT qualified) as necessary.
- Install and check safety devices as needed for specific jobs.
- Report faulty equipment, defective material and unusual conditions to supervisor or other appropriate resources.
- Observe and adhere to all prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or directed, which may require more than the normal shift hours or work week to meet company needs.
Requirements
- Strong troubleshooting skills necessary, with the ability to make informed decisions.
- Good organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment and meet operational deadlines.
- Must be self-motivated, safety and quality conscious, and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Experience following work instructions or reading blueprints.
- Experience using hand and power tools.
- Prior experience working in a light industrial facility preferred.
- Heavy lifting required (up to 50 lbs).
- Lift truck operator experience recommended.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in a similar manufacturing environment.
Skills
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
