In North Carolina, we operate three pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that are responsible for fulfilling different steps in our injectable and oral treatment supply chains. Our Emerging Technologies – Solid Dosage Forms US facility in Durham, NC is a 194,000 square foot tableting and packaging facility that supports the production of our innovative oral treatments for patients with type 2 diabetes. SDF maintains a curious and pioneering spirit, harmonious with our growing pipeline of new products and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

• Operate manufacturing equipment to achieve production goals
• Support training for junior team members and demonstrate subject matter expertise in assigned area
• Setup, operate, monitor and control equipment, systems and processes
• Clean and sanitize manufacturing, filling and packaging rooms and equipment per SOPs
• Execute production schedule to achieve production goals
• Perform machine changeovers as needed
• Handle labeling and components correctly; transferring, counting, FIFO, returns, etc.
• Actively participate in and support event response
• Review and author SOPs, job instructions and other documents as required
• Identify, report and resolve quality issues
• Execute and/or assist during equipment maintenance, including restoration of lost function, predictive and preventative maintenance
• Train fellow employees in areas of expertise and aggressively learn systems and equipment outside of own area of expertise (with the appropriate experience and skill level)
• Record/review production data in BPR and associated forms
• Participate in process improvement projects to enhance productivity and efficiency
• Follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties
• Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

• Moves equipment and/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions
• Routinely operates and inspects manufacturing equipment using hands
• Straps and unstraps pallets using hands
• Must be able to be on your feet for up to a 12-hour shift
• May require corrected vision to 20/20 or 20/25 based on role
• May require color vision based on role
• Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder
• May be required to work at elevated heights
• Occasionally works around odorous and/or hazardous materials
• May be required to wear latex gloves
• May perform critical job functions in extremely cold work environments depending on site
• May position oneself within confined spaces for inspection if required of the role
• Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection
• May be required to secure a motorized vehicle license and operate a motorized vehicle based on the role

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in manufacturing environment required
• Demonstrated ability to train new hires on processes and technical requirements (SOPs) required
• Ability to read, write and understand complicated product documentation and standard operating procedures with attention to detail required
• Computer literacy including use of Microsoft Office suite programs required

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or BioWorks Certification preferred
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in pharmaceutical solid dose manufacturing or other FDA regulated industry preferred
• Demonstrated experience in executing equipment troubleshooting, including restoration of lost function maintenance preferred
• Proven expertise in planning/organizing, managing execution, checking results and revising the work plan in accordance with the daily work plan a plus
