Royal Oak Enterprises, LLC is a leading manufacturer and marketer of branded and private label charcoal, firelog, and firebuilding products. The company also manufactures railroad cross ties, strengthening supplier relationships in the charcoal business. Recent acquisition of Pine Mountain and Diamond brands has introduced significant changes, requiring enhanced leadership.
About the Role
The Transfer/Wrapper Operator is responsible for performing and/or overseeing all job functions of at least one production line, including the extruder, wrapper, packing, and palletizing functions.
Responsibilities
- Maintain top quality firelogs and firestarters at regulated speeds to meet production requirements.
- Distribute mix into the extruders and maintain proper log weights.
- Perform initial quality checks as product comes out of the extruders and take appropriate action, including stopping the production line due to poor quality of mix.
- Perform all aspects of Machine Operator I and General Laborer jobs.
- Complete all required paperwork.
- Assist in checking all materials and supplies and take appropriate action to prevent or limit the receipt of nonconforming materials.
- Assist in investigations to determine causes of quality defects.
- Perform daily preventative maintenance and safety inspections on assigned equipment; report any issues to supervisor.
- Comply with assigned production goals and follow proper procedures to achieve these goals; inform supervisor when production goals will not be met.
- Observe plant safety rules; assist in identifying and eliminating safety hazards and/or concerns.
- Perform all job duties in a timely and efficient manner; contribute to plant cost reduction.
- Participate in 5S initiatives by maintaining a neat and orderly work area.
- Facilitate team concepts by working cooperatively and productively with others to complete assigned tasks.
- Report any problems or concerns to supervisor.
- Pose no direct threat to the health or safety of self, others, or property.
- Require regular attendance to perform essential job functions between assigned start and end times.
- Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department, the corporation, and the community; maintain professional competence, knowledge, and skills for satisfactory performance.
- Perform individual assignments as directed by management.
Requirements
- Demonstrates knowledge of production equipment.
- Demonstrates knowledge of General Laborer positions.
- Demonstrates knowledge of Transfer Operator position.
- One year of manufacturing experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Standing/walking for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work overtime or on weekends with short notice.
- Ability to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds.
- Typical manufacturing environment with concrete floors and moving equipment.
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures.
