Manufacturing Operator Assistant

Responsibilities

• Observe company safety rules and comply with all safety practices.
• Successfully complete the Department Assistant I Checklist.
• Document quality checks required by the work center.
• Assist in the safe and efficient operation of printers, metalizers, laminators, cutters, gluers, and all support equipment.
• Aid in identifying and resolving process and machine problems.
• Participate in make-ready preparation for assigned equipment.
• Prepare necessary reports to accomplish production goals.
• Perform general housekeeping functions in the assigned area.
• Ensure compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures, including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies.
• Promote orderliness and cleanliness of the work area in support of SQF/5S and other company standards.
• Support GPI’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork).
• Support and participate in GPI efforts for LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Understand customer requirements and deliver results to meet or exceed expectations.
• Have the ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting food safety requirements.
• Have the ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting customer quality requirements.

Safe Quality Food Responsibilities

• Follow all plant rules, processes, hygiene, and allergens procedures related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
• Report to a person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions that may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance with SQF-related procedures.
• Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
• Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
• Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 6 months of experience with the same or similar equipment is preferred.

Physical/Mental Requirements

• Frequent or strenuous physical effort (lifting, moving heavy objects, etc.) required.
• Frequently exposed to conditions involving noise, fumes, and hazardous chemicals.
• Must be able to work overtime as required.
• Graphic Packaging International operates on a 7-day continuous schedule.
