As the Manufacturing Operations Manager in Stafford, TX, you will oversee daily operations, drive continuous improvement, and ensure high-quality products that meet customer and business expectations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily planning, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and service activities to meet customer and business expectations.
- Ensure effective use of materials, equipment, and personnel to produce quality products at minimum costs.
- Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Maintain a health and safety environment by implementing Howden HSE procedures and standards.
- Deploy a continuous improvement culture to meet customer and business demands.
- Manage rebuild and manufacturing projects to meet internal and external customer specifications and Aftermarket requirements.
- Oversee execution activities, including parts and rebuilds, ensuring on-time delivery with required scope, quality, and supply.
- Support business development opportunities in new markets aligned with business objectives.
- Implement appropriate reporting, financial, and operational controls, including KPIs, to measure and protect business interests.
- Communicate effectively with staff and uphold compliance with company policies, procedures, and business issues.
- Maintain communication with the Aftermarket team regarding project deliverables, customer requirements, and product development.
- Act as a contractual liaison between company associates and customers, ensuring timely review and approval of variations.
- Manage inventory to meet customer ordering needs and adjust inventory levels as directed.
- Develop talent within your department and work directly with HR on employee relations.
- Travel approximately 10% of the time, primarily to Chart Aftermarket sites.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Experience as a plant manager with P&L responsibility.
- 10 years of management experience in a business, manufacturing, and/or assembly environment.
- Hands-on experience implementing continuous improvement processes.
- Knowledge of manufacturing performance indicators such as productivity, utilization, and efficiency.
- Understanding of manufacturing operations, including production principles (capacity planning and plant loading), inventory management, quality systems, and purchasing functions.
- Mature understanding of financial principles.
- Strong interpersonal skills—active listener, clear and concise communicator (both oral and written).
- Ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with employees.
- Motivational leader and effective manager.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple projects and people simultaneously.
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, welding, assembly, and product testing.
- Experience with compliance to ISO 9001:2015 standards.
- Experience with rotating and/or gas and air handling equipment.
- 5 years of experience managing the servicing of highly engineered equipment and products.
- A solid understanding of the product offerings of Chart & Howden’s customer base.
