Manufacturing Maintenance Technician III, First Shift
About the role
A Day in the Life: As a Manufacturing Maintenance Technician III, you will serve as a technical expert supporting extrusion manufacturing operations that help deliver life-changing medical technologies to patients worldwide. In this advanced role, you will independently troubleshoot complex equipment issues, lead continuous improvement initiatives, mentor team members, and partner closely with cross-functional teams to optimize performance in a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for extrusion equipment, tooling, fixtures, and associated manufacturing systems.
- Independently troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electromechanical issues to minimize downtime and support production objectives.
- Perform and document preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities on extrusion manufacturing equipment.
- Analyze equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
- Interpret schematics, technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation to execute advanced maintenance and repair activities.
- Partner with Engineering to support equipment qualifications, process validations, technology transfers, and new product introductions.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing, 5S, TPM, and Operational Excellence principles to improve manufacturing performance.
- Support burn room operations and specialized processing activities as required.
- Manage tooling inventories, spare parts programs, and equipment readiness to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to achieve business objectives.
- Support regulatory compliance requirements, including GMP, safety, quality system, and documentation standards.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience supporting highly regulated industries such as medical device, pharmaceutical, aerospace, or automotive manufacturing.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electromechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience leading technical projects, equipment upgrades, process improvements, or root cause investigations.
- Knowledge of GMP, quality systems, process validation, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with tooling design, maintenance programs, spare parts management, and equipment lifecycle support.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, TPM, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to analyze technical data and translate findings into actionable improvements.
- Proficiency with bench-top test equipment, measurement systems, and calibration tools (English and Metric).
- Strong communication, collaboration, mentoring, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to work overtime as needed and travel occasionally for training or technical support.
- Advanced knowledge of extrusion processing, plastics manufacturing, compounding, or related manufacturing technologies.
