Manufacturing Line Laborer (Day Shift)

About the role

The Farm Manufacturing Line Associate safely manufactures high-quality farm products by operating and supporting production equipment throughout the Farm Department. Associates learn and perform all seven production line positions while maintaining safety, quality, housekeeping, and production standards. This position works as part of a team to ensure customer orders are produced efficiently, accurately, and on time. After training, associates work independently while supporting continuous improvement efforts and maintaining Franklin Industries' Core Values and operational priorities.

Responsibilities

• Safety
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Report safety hazards, incidents, near misses, and equipment concerns immediately.
  • Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
• Production
  • Learn and perform all seven Farm Department production positions:
    • Shake Down
    • Beaming
    • Plating
    • Hanging
    • Flipping
    • Stacker Position #1
    • Stacker Position #2
  • Maintain continuous product flow throughout the production line.
  • Clear production interruptions and line wrecks safely and efficiently.
  • Follow all production schedules and work instructions.
  • Meet established production standards and goals.
• Quality
  • Inspect product throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Identify and report product defects and quality concerns.
  • Follow quality standards and work instructions.
  • Assist in maintaining customer quality requirements.
• Maintenance
  • Perform assigned daily preventive maintenance inspections.
  • Report equipment issues and abnormal operating conditions.
  • Assist with minor maintenance activities as directed.
• Teamwork and Communication
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, setup associates, and coworkers.
  • Assist with training new associates when qualified.
  • Participate in department meetings and improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude.
• Housekeeping
  • Maintain work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Remove scrap, debris, and waste materials as required.
  • Support Franklin Industries housekeeping standards throughout the department.
• Other Duties
  • Complete required production and scrap documentation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Ability to read and understand written work instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
• Ability to work safely around moving machinery and equipment.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior manufacturing experience.
• Prior machine operation experience.
• Experience working in a fast-paced production environment.

• Stand and walk for up to 10 hours per shift.

Working Conditions

Training and Development

Within 90 days of employment, associates are expected to:

• Demonstrate qualification in all seven line positions.
• Successfully complete required onboarding milestones.
• Demonstrate understanding of safety requirements.
• Demonstrate understanding of quality standards.
• Perform assigned duties with minimal supervision.

Pay

Starting pay is $17/hour, depending on previous experience. Overtime is paid at 1.5x pay after 40 hours. New employees are eligible for merit raises and cross-training opportunities after passing their 90-day probationary period.
