About the Role
Hachette Book Group’s internship program offers individuals an opportunity to learn about the publishing industry and explore an area of interest. As an HBG Manufacturing Intern, you will work closely with seasoned professionals, gain hands-on experience, own day-to-day tasks, assist with special projects, and attend departmental meetings. Educational sessions, networking opportunities, and career development are also part of the program.
Program Details
Dates: September 13, 2026 - December 11, 2026
Location: Hybrid (three days per week on-site in our New York office, M-Th, with one day remote)
Schedule: 28 hours per week, 9:00am-5:00pm, with a one-hour lunch break
Pay Rate: $17.00/hour
Equipment: Company laptop provided for the duration of the program
Responsibilities
- Assist Manufacturing staff in scheduling printings, estimating print jobs, issuing Purchase Orders, trafficking materials, and reviewing printed samples for quality.
- Develop relationships with printers, colleagues in other Hachette offices, as well as NY-based Editorial and Design staff.
- Attend bi-weekly and monthly manufacturing meetings with local New York staff and colleagues in other offices.
Qualifications
- Interested in exploring a career in book publishing.
- Self-starter with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Naturally curious about the bookmaking process.
- Possess a great attitude, a desire to learn, and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and contribute insights.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat; InDesign is a plus.
