Key Responsibilities

  • Set up CNC mills and/or lathes for production according to engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Install and align tooling, fixtures, vises, and work holding devices.
  • Load, verify, and adjust CNC programs as required.
  • Perform first-piece inspections using precision measuring instruments.
  • Make tool offsets and minor program adjustments to optimize machining performance.
  • Troubleshoot machine, tooling, setup, and quality issues during production.
  • Monitor machine performance and identify opportunities to improve cycle times and efficiency.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and GD&T.
  • Ensure parts meet quality specifications throughout the production process.
  • Work closely with CNC programmers, manufacturing engineers, and quality inspectors to resolve production challenges.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and manufacturing best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience setting up CNC machining centers.
  • Experience with 3-axis, 4-axis, or 5-axis CNC mills and/or CNC lathes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Strong understanding of cutting tools, tooling selection, feeds, speeds, and work holding.
  • Experience making tool offsets and setup adjustments.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, and height gauges.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently and in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience machining plastics, composites, or other engineered materials.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc, Okuma, Haas, or Mazak CNC controls.
  • Basic knowledge of Mastercam or other CAM software.
  • Experience with Renishaw probing systems.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience (if applicable).

Additional Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Able to safely operate manufacturing equipment while following all safety procedures.
