About the role

As Manufacturing Engineering Manager in Sparta, TN, you will oversee the development and implementation of production processes to maintain and improve product functionality. You will lead the Manufacturing Engineering team to ensure collaboration across departments, meeting product specifications and company objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the Manufacturing Engineering team to meet site and company production objectives.
  • Develop requirements, budgets, and plans for manufacturing and automation processes and equipment.
  • Drive the development of world-class manufacturing systems for new product introductions, continuous improvement, and automation initiatives.
  • Maintain costing standards used in all operations.
  • Resolve spec, drawing, routing, BOM, and costing issues with cross-functional teams.
  • Assist in product costing and modify existing processes for new products.
  • Lead and advocate best practices and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Manage departmental KPIs and implement tools for improvement.
  • Coordinate project activities, resource planning, and estimate project times and costs.
  • Mentor team members, recognize talent, and promote professional growth.
  • Encourage collaboration, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Direct the Engineering team in creating production documents (PFMEAs, Work Instructions, etc.).
  • Facilitate workshops with cross-functional teams to improve processes.
  • Mentor and coach the Engineering team, and administer appraisals.
  • Assist with value stream mapping and future state planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Industrial, etc.); Master’s degree preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven supervisory and leadership experience.
  • Ability to prepare and forecast budgets.
  • Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint) and ability to learn new applications quickly.
  • Self-starter with a “can-do” attitude.

Skills

  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to foster a team environment and exercise technical leadership.
  • Experience in lean process design and production documentation creation.
  • Ability to optimize cost, performance, and meet customer requirements.
  • Experience with value stream mapping and future state planning.
