Key Responsibilities
- Leads the Manufacturing Engineering Team to support Hapco Operations and business objectives.
- Responsible for leading and managing the Facility Maintenance Team.
- Supports multi-plant operations, ensuring alignment of manufacturing engineering standards, processes, and initiatives across locations.
- Develop and maintain standard work, work instructions, routings, and process documentation
- Collaborate with Quality to support root cause analysis and corrective actions for internal and customer issues
- Partner with Operations to improve throughput, labor efficiency, and equipment uptime
- Support make/buy decisions, capacity planning, and layout optimization
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
- Manage departmental budgets, timelines, and project priorities
- Carries out departmental goals aligned with corporate strategic plans.
- Fosters a team-based environment to achieve company goals and resolve issues.
- Builds and maintains positive working relationships internally and externally.
New Product Introduction & Manufacturing Development
- Launch new products into manufacturing.
- Develop comprehensive Manufacturing Plans, including:
- Standard work projects
- Tooling and facility equipment capacity
- Tooling and operational concepts
- Tool specifications
- Facility floor planning and value stream flow
- Consumable materials
- Product handling and workflow
Process Improvement & Lean Initiatives
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and product quality.
- Participates in lean manufacturing initiatives such as Kaizen events and value stream mapping.
Project Management
- Oversees multiple projects to ensure on-time and under-budget completion.
- Reviews plans, specifications, and special provisions.
- Represents the department in project meetings, including pre-manufacturing and production meetings.
Technical Support & Problem Solving
- Troubleshoots manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Ensures cycle time and process performance targets are achieved.
- Assists with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
- Collaborates with internal and external engineering and design teams.
Travel Requirements
Travel is required up to 30% and may include visits to other company facilities, projects, training events and cross-functional collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required (e.g., Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering or a related field)
- Master’s degree preferred in Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in manufacturing engineering or management
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Reasoning Ability
- Perform movements such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Requires close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to stand for the duration of the entire shift.
- Frequent use of hands to finger, handle, and feel.
Physical Demands
- Ability to apply common sense understanding when carrying out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to create, read, and accurately interpret documents.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage situations involving multiple variables in various contexts.
Work Environment
The position is primarily office-based, with ongoing involvement in the manufacturing plant where required PPE and safety precautions must be followed.
