Role + Responsibilities
- Determines processes, fixtures, and tools needed to produce quality parts to customer specifications
- Analyzes layout of equipment and workflow
- Reviews design renderings/prints and provide design for manufacturability feedback
- Works with internal personnel to resolve production issues, both cost and quality related
- Supports lean initiatives for process improvement on the shop floor
- Develops standard work
- Generates flat prints from models for machine specific requirements
- Strives to understand a high level of all functional areas of manufacturing processes and actively brings forth ideas for process improvement according to company objectives
- Interacts with teams of design engineers, operations, and project managers, to secure deadlines
- Identifies current state work center capacity bottlenecks within manufacturing and develops plans to realize future state demand
- Affords assistance in processing engineering change notices to the manufacturing floor
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Associates degree with relevant work experience and/or production floor knowledge
- Minimum two years of manufacturing engineering experience with knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks (certificate a plus)
- Sheet metal fabricating, welding, and/or assembly experience
- Experience with parts flat generation and prep work for part files for machine runs, as well as fabrication processes, methods, and programming
- Basic understanding of setting up manufacturing routes
- Understanding of material flow methods (push/pull systems)
- Ledger or six sigma training, experience or certification a plus, but not required
- Critical thinking, logic, and reasoning to troubleshoot and solve problems
- Knowledge and use of computers and Microsoft Office software
- Proven ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally, across all levels of the organization
- Design for manufacturability exposure
