Manufacturing Engineer Technician - Intermediate
Position Overview
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Technician - Intermediate to provide technical support for manufacturing equipment, production processes, and engineering activities in a medical device manufacturing environment.
This role is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, installing, and modifying production equipment while supporting manufacturing operations, process improvements, root cause investigations, and employee training. The position works closely with Manufacturing Engineering and Production teams to maximize equipment uptime, productivity, and product quality.
This position primarily supports 1st Shift (5:00 AM – 1:30 PM). Schedule adjustments and limited overtime may be required based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support manufacturing lines by ensuring equipment and materials are available and operational at shift startup.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment issues to minimize downtime.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Conduct equipment adjustments and process parameter changes in accordance with approved procedures.
- Schedule preventive maintenance activities as needed.
- Interpret engineering drawings and evaluate equipment and materials against specifications.
- Assist with assembly of new fixtures and modifications to existing fixtures.
- Install, validate, and support new equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Support efforts to improve yield, reduce cycle times, and enhance manufacturing efficiency.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and manufacturing investigations.
- Perform device dissections and collect manufacturing data.
- Support root cause investigations through data logging, trending, and corrective actions.
- Identify manufacturing-related issues and assist with implementation of corrective actions.
- Communicate issues and resolutions effectively across shifts and production teams.
- Train and certify manufacturing associates on production processes and standard work procedures.
- Support development, revision, and maintenance of manufacturing documentation and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with medical device manufacturing standards, regulations, and quality requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Technical Diploma in an Engineering or Technical discipline preferred. High School Diploma required. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in: Manufacturing Operations Support, or Engineering Support roles. Strong English communication skills (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Preferred Skills: Hands-on mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Fixture assembly experience. Basic machining experience. Soldering skills. Basic Microsoft Excel proficiency. Experience working in a controlled-access or cleanroom environment. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Work Environment
Medical device manufacturing environment. Requires adherence to quality standards, manufacturing procedures, and regulatory requirements. Work may be performed in controlled-access or cleanroom environments. Requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving while supporting production operations.
