Manufacturing Engineer - Supervisor

About the Role

Establishes and directs a technical engineering team to define, develop, and design new product lines from concept to full production, as well as expand existing product lines for the forestry and recycling markets, ensuring customer technical and cost requirements are met. This role develops cost-effective and product improvement strategies for existing products and provides leadership and mentoring to the Engineering Department and site staff.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs, and coordinates the activities of the maintenance, tooling, and engineering departments to facilitate efficient manufacturing operations across the organization.
  • Assesses cost effectiveness and feasibility of manufacturing processes; makes and implements recommendations to reduce cost and improve efficiency.
  • Provides guidance and oversight in the development and execution of plant renovations and expansions; coordinates outside contractors and vendors.
  • Prepares and implements factory master plan and capital investments to meet future market demand.
  • Introduces progressive automation and new technology to improve processes, product quality, and increase efficiency.
  • Leads and manages the manufacturing engineering team, providing guidance, mentoring, and training to ensure the team's success and professional growth.
  • Monitors and analyzes production data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and implements corrective actions as needed.
  • Develops and manages the manufacturing engineering budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and cost control.
  • Provides technical support and guidance to resolve complex manufacturing issues, troubleshoot problems, and optimize production output.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field or equivalent and/or combination of training and experience.
  • 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in an engineering-related field.
  • Proficient in the use of SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD to generate 3D solid model designs from concept to fabrication.
  • Familiarity with industry policies and procedures to ensure safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance.
  • Must possess in-depth understanding in one or more engineering fields (e.g., electrical, software, mechanical) and design criteria.
  • Thorough working knowledge of plant engineering, industrial engineering, and tooling.
  • Hydraulic and diesel knowledge required; control systems and power train knowledge a plus.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervisory responsibility over Product Engineers, Product Safety Engineer, Manufacturing Supervisor, and Control Systems Supervisor.
