What You'll Do
- Work hands-on with technicians and engineers to build and insulate metallic and composite solid rocket motor cases and tooling, closely collaborating with design engineering releases.
- Build composite nozzles and tooling, again in close collaboration with design engineering releases.
- Create tooling necessary for the manufacture of press-molded parts.
- Write manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process specifications, MBOMs, quality plans, inspection requirements, non-conformances, and inspections alongside a team of technicians and inspectors.
- Serve as a bridge between engineering technical data packages and technicians to ensure hardware and tooling are manufactured as designed/analyzed.
- Solve manufacturing problems in a schedule-driven environment, adhering to detailed specifications and requirements to achieve the desired quality.
- Develop manufacturing processes to reduce risk as the product transitions from prototyping to final production.
- Drive work cell design and optimization to maintain and manage quality and efficiency targets.
- Collaborate with Program Managers to inform critical decision points to ensure timely delivery.
- Participate in RCCAs alongside the quality team to eliminate production barriers and recurring issues.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technology-related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a relevant field, preferably in manufacturing solid rocket motor cases and/or nozzles.
- A genuine interest in manufacturing and a strong desire to learn.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, including GD&T.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (NX preferred).
- Experience with MS Office and/or project management software.
- Demonstrated in-kind or direct team leadership skills, with examples to back up claims.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret clearance.
- The ability to relocate to Morrisville, NC, if not already local.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting aerospace, defense, automotive, and/or energy facilities.
- Experience working within AS9100/NADCAP accredited manufacturing facilities.
- Experience with metallic case and nozzle manufacturing processes (including autoclave processing, EPDM rubber processing, secondary bonding, hydraulic press processing, etc.).
- Experience operating within a Digital Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
- Understanding of CNC machining operations and limitations (5-axis routers, lathes, mills, etc.).
Pay
The salary range for this role is $89,000—$120,000 USD. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
