Manufacturing Engineer - Pressure

About the role

Collins Aerospace is seeking a manufacturing engineer to creatively apply engineering knowledge to efficiently solve complex manufacturing problems and make sound, data-driven technical conclusions for the manufacture of electrical/mechanical pressure sensing devices. This position involves interfacing with manufacturing engineers, production leaders, maintenance, purchasing, quality, production operators, design engineers, and program management. This is an onsite role offering unlimited challenges and opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain production documentation, including manufacturing documents and production process routings.
• Attain MRB (Material Review Board) signature authority for material dispositioning.
• Learn the operation and programming of all assigned equipment.
• Become proficient in identifying common defects and issues for assigned processes, including proper mitigations.
• Learn to use appropriate metrology tools required by assigned processes.
• Learn and accept responsibility for process Statistical Process Control (SPC).
• Become proficient in manufacturing software such as SAP and Creo.
• Properly document and report work.
• Develop and implement cost-saving projects, new technology, materials, products, and processes.
• Reduce scrap, rework, and repair.
• Provide recommendations on process efficiency, safety, production flow, and sequencing of operations.
• Use data analytics/SPC for productivity, First Pass Yield (FPY), and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) targets and improvements.
• Drive problem-solving initiatives and challenge the status quo (e.g., Corrective/Preventive Actions, OEE, FPY, customer escapes).
• Participate and contribute to Process Flow, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and Control Plans.
• Develop, design, and plan for assembly and materials handling.
• Adapt machine or equipment design to conform to standard factory and production procedures.
• Make changes in assembly processes, equipment procedures, and design specifications to solve manufacturing problems.
• Plan sequence of operations and specification procedures for tool fabrication and equipment affecting product performance.
• Provide guidance to engineering on design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

Requirements

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations, and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field, or in the absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong communication and collaboration skills with manufacturing engineers, production leaders, maintenance, purchasing, quality, production operators, design engineers, and program management.
• Ability to carry out process optimization.
• Experience designing and analyzing experiments.
• Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite software.
• Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
• Experience in the aviation industry.
• Proficiency in SAP.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $68,900 – $131,100 USD. The range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
