Responsibilities
- Develops and improves processes, methods, tooling and production controls.
- Stays informed concerning new manufacturing technology and equipment and investigates their potential applications.
- Recommends incorporation of new technology for company applications where feasible and practical.
- Sets up new equipment, ensures its satisfactory operation and instructs others to use the new equipment properly.
- Designs, tools and/or machines of varying types (some of a very complex nature) for use in the manufacture of company products.
Qualifications
- BSME or a BS degree with a concentration of coursework in industrial technology or engineering.
- A minimum of 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Any combination of experience, education and training which would provide the level of knowledge, skill and ability required.
- Special consideration for individuals with a background in bearing manufacturing or precision grinding.
Knowledge
- Mechanical principles
- Machining practices, especially pertaining to precision grinding
- The properties of metals
- The application of mathematics and dimensions to production machinery and tooling.
Skills
- Engineering and drafting skills
- Familiar with CNC machines and machine tools and has had exposure to high-volume automated production equipment.
Abilities
- Comprehend all aspects of a manufacturing equipment or tooling problems, understand the interrelationships of factors affecting a given situation
- Be attentive to detail
- Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
