About the role
Eaton’s Electrical Sector – Power Distribution & Controls Assemblies (PDCA) business is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer - Plant Execution Systems to join our manufacturing OPEX team in Omaha, Nebraska. Relocation assistance is available for internal applicants.
Responsibilities
- Implement, maintain, and advance the manufacturing systems.
- Own the site automation, Industry 4.0, Ignition (Inductive Automation), Digital Torque records, Digital testing records, and growth roadmap efforts.
- Define process stability, standard work, takt/capacity requirements, and waste-elimination opportunities to ensure technology investments improve flow and eliminate non-value-added work.
- Champion a digital mindset for the Omaha manufacturing plant.
- Work closely with the data analytics team and support data migration from all plant systems for the purpose of data visualization.
- Configure and update new control systems (Ignition stations and asset monitoring, Dynamic Manufacturing Management in fabrication).
- Develop a hopper of projects and required capital for annual profit plan.
- Lead major projects to deploy Industry 4.0 tools & technologies and manufacturing systems into manufacturing operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional resources to execute projects: Information Technology, Operational Excellence, Production Operations, Quality, Facilities.
- Guide & support plant teams on machine connectivity & data acquisition activities.
- Work as liaison to manufacturing leaders and plant teams.
- Align Industry 4.0 project objectives to continuous improvement initiatives focusing on strategic value streams.
- Aid manufacturing teams in the development, submission & approval of business cases for Industry 4.0 project opportunities.
- Train key plant personnel on the Industry 4.0 tools & technologies being deployed to ensure successful adoption and achieve improvement objectives.
- Drive accountability for project execution and deliverables.
- Develop knowledge & expertise in the Industry 4.0 tools & technologies to be a subject matter expert (SME).
- Manage external consultants, suppliers, and tooling design/development companies.
- Build practical lean capability by coaching leaders, engineers, supervisors, and operators during improvement events, gemba walks, problem-solving sessions, and sustainment reviews rather than relying primarily on classroom training.
- Identify and deploy improvement and standardization opportunities tied to layout changes, new product introduction, capacity expansion, and material/information flow across the site.
- Develop documentation during new product launches such as process flow diagrams, PFMEA, control plans, job safety analysis.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing automation, controls, and Industry 4.0 in a manufacturing setting.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.

- Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing automation, controls, and Industry 4.0 in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience with Ignition (Inductive Automation) and Dynamic Manufacturing Management in fabrication.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical or industrial engineering.
