About the role
As a Manufacturing Engineer - PCBA, you will act as the primary technical leader for our products, serving as the main interface between Plexus’s internal Customer Focus Teams (CFTs)—which include Test, Quality, and Process Engineering—and the customer. You will transition your expertise in circuit design, schematics, and system architecture to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturing excellence (DfX).
This role moves you from "designing for performance" to "designing for success." You will leverage your technical depth to solve the complex intersection of electrical function and manufacturing viability.
Responsibilities
- Manufacturing Readiness & DfX: Apply your electrical background to identify manufacturing routes and optimize process flows to ensure a robust and cost-effective PCBA output.
- System-Level Technical Interface: Act as the internal and external lead for technical communication. Translate complex product requirements (e.g., schematics, BOMs, and customer specifications) into actionable instructions for the production floor.
- Technical Problem Solving: Lead root cause analysis (CAR/PAR) when issues arise on the floor. Read and interpret complex designs to debug PCBA issues, identify failure modes, and implement corrective actions.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively drive efficiency. Use your engineering mindset to identify opportunities to improve yields, reduce scrap, and optimize manufacturing cycle times.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with 2 or more years of related experience is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.
- Intermediate decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and statistical analysis skills; experience with Statistical Process Control software.
- Proactive and basic cross-discipline development knowledge.
- Understanding of structured design.
- Ability to develop good working relationships with team members and customers.
- Lab tool/test/measurement equipment experience preferred.
Benefits
Plexus offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support team members' wellbeing, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, retirement savings, and opportunities for professional development. We also prioritize work-life balance and offer a variety of perks to enhance the team member experience.
Pay
The annual compensation range for this position is $70,300.00 - $105,500.00. The salary offered within this range will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements, and/or skill level.
