Manufacturing Engineer, Machine Startup

About the role

VulcanForms is reshaping how the world manufactures critical products through its vertically integrated capabilities in additive manufacturing and precision machining. This role focuses on the commissioning and qualification of 3D Laser printers.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with Mechanical, Controls, Process Monitoring, and Machine Build teams to coordinate work.
• Complete Installation Qualification protocols and write reports for the latest generation of printers.
• Identify areas of improvement in IQ protocols and implement procedural updates.
• Streamline IQ process to optimize printer onboarding.
• Learn to generate toolpaths and run prints independently.
• Develop a decision matrix for handling protocol failures.
• Develop and execute machine OQ and PQ activities independently.
• Write and maintain procedures & checklists for repeatable startup of machines.
• Utilize lean manufacturing principles and participate in action workouts.
• Use data-driven root cause and corrective action tools to support business goals.
• Ensure the safety of all associates by addressing safety issues and adhering to policies.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and operations.
• Proven ability to develop and implement qualified processes using applicable systems (e.g., FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, Process Validation).
• Experience with Industrial Automation tools like PLCs, drives, motors, IO modules.
• Knowledge of vision systems within automation processes.
• Experience with PC-based data systems and laser printer systems.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques, Quality Systems, and SPC tools.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in Metal Additive Manufacturing.
• Experience qualifying equipment for medical manufacturing.

Pay

The annual base salary range for this position is $76,640.00 - $105,380.00. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
