This is a 2nd shift opportunity with hours 4pm–1am, Monday through Friday. The role is on-site at the Toledo, Ohio plant; the successful candidate must be willing to work weekends. Relocation assistance may be offered.

About the Role

Lead engineer for a group of process engineers responsible for maintaining, improving, and developing manufacturing processes, equipment/tooling alternatives, sequence, and flow of operations to effectively utilize personnel, material, machines, and facilities in producing propulsion systems. This role operates within a focus-factory manufacturing engineering environment, requiring creativity, initiative, and a high level of independent judgment.

  • Serves as a technical resource for the team, facilitating interactions with other teams/departments and interpreting company policies.
  • Works independently to drive team results and determine resources for assignments, receiving general management guidance.

  • Creates and oversees operational plans for routine activities, analyzing data and resolving issues within the area of responsibility.

  • Builds relationships with senior internal/external partners, persuading and addressing objections using data and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day activities of a team of process engineers, including setting objectives, evaluating performance, and coaching.
  • Lead the development and implementation of manufacturing process improvements.
  • Support business processes such as Fast Response, Practical Problem Solving, and PPAP.
  • Interface with plant site personnel, Central ME personnel, and Product Engineers on new programs/projects.
  • Analyze first-time quality data and optimize processes using statistical tools like Red X and Design of Experiments.
  • Develop process documentation for new products/processes, including Process Flow Diagrams, Process Control Plans, and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis.
  • Oversee and coordinate PPAP and GP-12 activities.
  • Develop Product Quality Standards, Task Instruction Sheets, Safe Job Procedures, and Audit Sheets.
  • Provide technical direction to less experienced process engineers and oversee factory/vendor personnel.
  • Support Business Plan Deployment (BPD) initiatives and coordinate engineering activities to achieve objectives.
  • Interface with plant personnel to support Continuous Improvement projects, improving Safety, People, Quality, Reliability, and Cost (SPQRC) metrics.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a group of technical professionals.
  • Strong technical knowledge in process engineering disciplines.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills to build relationships and resolve problems.
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex projects with autonomy and accountability.
  • Initiative to improve output and support others.
  • Proven project management skills and ability to teach others.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Word.
  • Strong knowledge of Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) principles.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical concepts, machine designs, and process requirements in manufacturing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with machining and assembly manufacturing processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience).
