Power the future of energy innovation with a world-renowned leader in power generation and energy technology in Greenville, SC.

About the role

As a Manufacturing Engineer IV, you will serve as a key technical expert responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining cutting-tool data management standards that support CNC programming and manufacturing operations. You'll play a critical role in establishing a robust Tool Data Management (TDM) environment as the single source of truth for approved cutting-tool information, helping improve consistency, efficiency, and manufacturing excellence across the organization. This role offers a unique combination of engineering, machining, tooling, and data management responsibilities while partnering closely with CNC programmers, machinists, manufacturing engineers, tooling suppliers, and technical leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain cutting-tool content within the Tool Data Management (TDM) system, ensuring accuracy, consistency, completeness, and usability.
  • Establish and support TDM as the approved source of truth for cutting-tool information across manufacturing operations.
  • Review existing tooling definitions and transition approved cutting tools into standardized TDM records.
  • Create, edit, and maintain cutting-tool and toolholder geometry, including complete tool assemblies and associated technical attributes.
  • Define and manage tool classifications, naming conventions, and data standards while identifying opportunities for process improvements.
  • Maintain approved feeds, speeds, cutting parameters, and related machining data based on qualification testing and validated manufacturing results.
  • Lead the implementation process for new cutting tools, from initial request through validation, TDM integration, and deployment to programming teams.
  • Communicate tooling updates and implementation status to CNC programmers and manufacturing stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with machinists, programmers, and manufacturing engineers to understand tooling challenges and support operational success.
  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of tooling databases while promoting standardization and best practices.
  • Work with suppliers and technical experts to evaluate tooling solutions and support manufacturing improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of technical education and manufacturing experience.
  • Approximately 5-8 years of relevant manufacturing experience, with strong consideration given to candidates with demonstrated practical expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of cutting tools used in milling and turning applications.
  • Understanding of complete cutting-tool assemblies, including holders, adapters, extensions, inserts, interfaces, and assembly compatibility.
  • Experience creating and modifying 3D cutting-tool and toolholder geometry.
  • Working knowledge of machining fundamentals, feeds and speeds, cutting-tool applications, and CNC manufacturing processes.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining accurate and reliable technical data.
  • Ability to work independently in an evolving environment where processes and standards continue to mature.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to engage effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams.
  • Practical, shop-floor-focused mindset with a passion for improving manufacturing performance and efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Tool Data Management (TDM) systems.
  • Experience with Siemens NX CAM.
  • Experience with comparable tooling and tool-management platforms.
  • Familiarity with NX CAM 2412.
  • Background in machining, tooling, CNC programming, manufacturing engineering, or related technical disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting tooling standardization and manufacturing process optimization.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and short-term disability coverage.
  • Additional voluntary benefits and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • Commuter benefits.
  • 401K plan with employer contributions.
  • Paid leave including Paid Sick Leave or any other paid leave required by Federal, State, or local law, as well as Holiday pay where applicable.
