About the Role

Researches, analyzes, designs, and tests component parts, processes, or systems to develop new and/or improve core products. Develops and recommends solutions to well-defined engineering requirements, or for components or segments of a complex product or system, to ensure that design objectives are met. Applies engineering principles based on assigned engineering domain (e.g., mechanical, electrical, chemical, etc.).

This position does not have direct reports. Primarily involves internal Parker contacts and cross-functional teams; occasional customer interface.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, draft, and deploy mechanical equipment and automated systems using solid modeling CAD.
  • Demonstrate strong mechanical systems aptitude with a robust pneumatic and electrical controls background to troubleshoot existing equipment and properly spec components for new builds.
  • Apply production welding and brazing process experience, including developing and optimizing automated weld processes (GTAW, PAW, GMAW).
  • Understand metallurgical principles and develop best-in-class processes for CAB brazing, torch brazing, and induction brazing.
  • Specify, deploy, and troubleshoot automated systems incorporating collaborative and industrial robots.
  • Develop detailed product specifications by analyzing performance and customer requirements.
  • Investigate design factors such as function, materials, performance, interchangeability, cost, operational efficiency, and contractual requirements.
  • Contribute to project milestones (e.g., create functional diagrams and system layouts, review detailed drawings and schematics, define data structures, analyze material requirements, research customer data item requirements).
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, technical publications, and professional associations.
  • Share specialized knowledge with others and assist in mentoring new employees.
  • Represent the company on specific projects or engineering tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Mechanical Engineering or a similar technical discipline.
  • 8–10 years of related experience with the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Working knowledge of engineering domain principles and techniques, product functionality, industry practices, regulations, and policies.
  • General knowledge of other related engineering and technical areas.
  • Proficient with engineering design and analysis tools (e.g., computer-aided design or modeling systems); ability to use standard software packages. May require capability using specialized software applications or languages.
  • Demonstrated experience with FEA, flow analysis, including CFD evaluation.
  • Experience with induction braze technologies and associated design requirements.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, Zero Defects, project management, FMEA, and quality systems preferred.
  • Ability to work with general objectives regarding projects and team goals; applies judgment in selecting procedures and techniques.
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Effectively communicates status, actions, recommendations, and technical information with clarity and precision.
  • Responsive to inquiries from other engineering and business teams.
