Manufacturing Engineer II
About the role
The Manufacturing Engineer II position is open in the Audio Video Division at Legrand in Minnetonka, MN. This role supports manufacturing operations by owning defined technical, quality, and process responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Support operations with day-to-day technical issues on the production floor
- Aid in creating, updating, and maintaining: Work Instructions, Test procedures and process documentation
- Train operations staff in new processes and process changes
- Support error-proofing, standardization, and process control initiatives
- Support equipment and tooling maintenance and procurement
- Lead new product/process introductions (NPI), including test readiness and early failure analysis
- Partner with Design Engineering on tooling, fixturing, and process changes
- Support ECO process for NPI and OPD projects including BOM, Routing and Material Master changes
- Identify and implement process improvements using Lean manufacturing principles
- Lead or co-lead defined CI projects related to quality, productivity, or reliability
- Support layout changes, test improvements, and fixture optimization efforts
- Own and maintain manufacturing quality metrics, dashboards, and recurring reports
- Analyze defect trends, recurring failures, and yield data to identify improvement opportunities
- Lead or support root cause and corrective action (RCCA) investigations
- Present quality trends and recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders
- Understand workplace hazards and proactively prevent and report unsafe conditions
- Participate in safety programs, audits, and investigations
- Support compliance with quality system and operational standards
- Act as a technical liaison between Operations, Quality, and Engineering
- Communicate findings, risks, and improvement recommendations clearly and professionally
- Participate in audits, reviews, and cross-functional meetings as required
Qualifications
- Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong mechanical aptitude, excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills, ability to examine component issues and required changes, ability to interpret standards, specifications, procedures, drawings, etc., basic understanding of embedded programming and the ability to read C++ language, understanding of lean manufacturing principles, excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision, ability to train and motivate employees at all levels, ability to demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and to appropriately prioritize workload based upon organization or department needs, must possess high degree of professionalism, must be available for extended, varied work hours based on business need
- Minimum Education And Experience Required: Bachelor of Science degree in electrical, manufacturing, industrial engineering or related technical degree with a minimum of 3+ years engineering experience in an electro-mechanical assembly environment; or combination of relevant education and experience, proven ability to deliver productivity and material cost savings, 3D CAD work experience (SolidWorks preferred), experience with ECO processes (Arena / SAP preferred), experience with PCBAs, electronics, and firmware workflows, including troubleshooting and testing PCBAs at the component level
- Preferred Qualifications: Lean Six Sigma certification, experience in manufacturing / cell production environments, experience in audited/regulated environments (UL, ISO 9001), experience supporting manufacturing and quality engineering tasks, experience with Solidworks, experience with SAP, labeling software experience, machine shop experience
Salary Range
$80,000 - $100,000
