Performs complex functions in the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of manufacturing operations. Prepares plans, conducts support studies, and provides analysis or tests in the development of manufacturing operations. Utilizes a strong lean manufacturing skillset to reduce cost and cycle time.
Responsibilities
- Resolves complex engineering problems by collecting and analyzing information; researching, analyzing, adapting, and modifying engineering techniques; recommending solutions; reviewing drawings, schematics, and diagrams; evaluating installations, components, materials, and suppliers; resolving design integration issues; developing specifications and safety standards.
- Implements lean methodologies and tools to improve material flow and labor efficiencies, meeting Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost targets.
- Evaluates electrical systems, avionics, products, components, and applications (for Electrical Engineers).
- Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment and practices; soliciting observations of stakeholders and applying Lean Manufacturing techniques.
- Assures compliance with all applicable specifications and regulations.
- Establishes labor standards, line balancing, and factory layouts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (required).
- Advanced Engineering Degree and/or Six Sigma – Black Belt Certification (preferred).
- Minimum of 1 year of aircraft manufacturing experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- 5-9 years of aircraft manufacturing, maintenance, or repair experience (preferred).
Skills
- Adept at analyzing, interpreting, and resolving complex information.
- Proficiency with analytical and statistical tools.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in planning practices and tools, Lotus Notes, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MES, CATIA, and SAP.
- Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
- Utilization of Lean Production concepts.
- Systemic vision, data analysis, and consolidation.
- Ability to cope with deadlines and pressured situations.
- Ability to interact with senior management, staff, and production/technical personnel.
Working Conditions
- Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, state, and federal regulations.
- Ability to work flexible hours and different shifts if required.
- Subject to random drug and alcohol testing under FAA regulations.
- Foreign travel may be required; ability to obtain a passport.
