Manufacturing Engineer I

About the role

The Manufacturing Technician I (MFG Tech I) supports all manufacturing-related operations for automated and non-automated equipment with the goal to achieve production targets. This role involves ensuring that automated equipment is functional and ready for production operations at the start of each shift, providing programming support to resolve automation inefficiencies or program new tasks, troubleshooting, repairing, and restarting equipment from machine malfunctions. Manufacturing operations include sheet metal automated equipment and robotic welding systems in an environment that facilitates the completion of welded assemblies for the component value stream. The MFG Tech I is responsible for managing assigned company equipment and programming parts.

Responsibilities

• Perform all assigned tasks in a safe, efficient, timely, accurate, and highly productive manner according to company policy.
• Follow company policies and procedures.
• Navigate and operate HMI controls of robotic systems.
• Aid additional systems team members in loading parts and assemblies into the system.
• Lead troubleshooting and solving part fit-up and system function issues as they arise.
• Communicate issues requiring technical support with appropriate technicians and engineers.
• Communicate status with Line Lead and Production Supervisor.
• Work with team members in pre and post-line operations to address problems.
• Facilitate operator preventive maintenance tasks as required and communicate any issues noted with Management and Maintenance.
• Train on operation of equipment.
• Manage assigned technology, report on key performance indicators: on-time delivery, quality, takt management, and machine utilization.
• Manage, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment.
• Engage external resources (suppliers) as necessary.
• Setup and operate specified machining centers.
• Troubleshoot problems within programming and the functions of the machine or collaborate with maintenance or outside vendors to resolve the issue.
• Perform parts analysis for productivity, time studies, and produce R&D parts, as scheduled.
• Program and validate new products and prototypes for quality and functionality.
• Perform product manufacturing and assembly tasks as assigned.
• Conduct quality checks of parts and components.
• Monitor product processes and suggest improvements.
• Support adherence to the specified production schedule.
• Optimize production efficiency by adjusting machinery and equipment settings as needed.
• Set up the production equipment and assist the Machine Operator in handling the machinery.
• Inspect machinery and production equipment and troubleshoot minor errors.
• Perform minor repairs and report breakdowns in a timely manner.
• Keep equipment maintenance logs and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Train new employees.
• Collaborate with other departments to complete production orders on time.
• Comply with internal policies and industry regulations.

Requirements

Essential qualifications include:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with manufacturing equipment and systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job, including lifting and moving equipment.

Qualifications

Desired qualifications include:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience with robotics and automation systems.
• Knowledge of programming languages such as PLC (Programmable Logic Controller).
• Experience with CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines.
• Experience with lean manufacturing principles.
