About the role
This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. It involves Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
Responsibilities
- Define, develop, implement, optimize and own rocket engine assembly, integration, and test processes.
- Translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into fully functional hardware by developing manufacturing work instructions to clearly define receiving inspection, fabrication, assembly, test, integration, and refurbishment processes.
- Closely manage build sequence, cost, quality and schedule of hardware on a daily basis throughout the entire manufacturing process.
- Conduct DFMA and PFMEA studies to strengthen the feedback loop between design and build.
- Create and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM), routings, and work instructions for engine assemblies.
- Create/modify manufacturing work instructions to disposition Non-conformances quickly.
- Utilize lean manufacturing methodology for process development and problem solving.
- Design, procure, install, and qualify custom manufacturing equipment/fixtures.
- Troubleshoot and operate equipment as required.
- Collaborate closely with internal customers (M&P engineers, test technicians, manufacturing engineers, management and design/analysis engineers) to define requirements and align tools to meet company objectives.
- Ensure production processes and procedures are in compliance with contract specifications and applicable regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering (or other relevant fields) from an accredited university.
- 3+ years direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience.
- Extensive prior experience in high-rate assembly lines for aerospace and/or automotive.
- Understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing including working knowledge of GD&T.
- Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc).
- Ability to develop English work instructions for technicians and inspectors.
- Experience creating processes compliant to industry quality systems such as AS9100.
- Must be able to work weekends and have flexibility to move shifts as needed on occasion.
