Job Purpose

We are looking for an enthusiastic Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing PHINIA Global Engineering Team to provide expertise in supporting automatic electrical winding systems for multiple product lines. The role of the Manufacturing Engineer is to support Winding application globally for the following Product lines (Ignition Coils, Starter, Alternators, Fuel pump coils).

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish BOP (Bill of Process) and guidelines for PHINIA Winding applications. This would include Best Practices and Lessons Learned.
  • Support PHINIA plants globally for Winding applications supporting multiple product lines.
  • Follow/guide/support product development projects gates for Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Specify and implement winding systems. This includes writing detailed specifications and working with equipment suppliers to ensure they meet the specific needs of the manufacturing process.
  • Aid and develop PM procedures, PFMEA, winding system training program and champion the training practices.
  • Provide manufacturing engineering leadership throughout a new model development program for areas of expertise.
  • Lead and implement control plans and requirements of Coil Winding systems.
  • Lead and assist production in all winding related quality and process issues globally.
  • Support prototype build, pre-production launch builds, and safe launch phases as required.
  • Able to read and write technical specifications, reports, and Statements of Work.
  • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Able to prioritize and plan work activities to meet time-sensitive deadlines, be detail-oriented and maintain confidentiality.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Accomplish tasks assigned by supervisor or manager.
  • Make safety and environment the most important criteria in the working area and for the individual.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical field.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn.
  • Experience with hand tools and machinery used in coil winding.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in coil winding process.
  • Strong understanding of coil winding processes, machinery, and quality control standards.
  • Ability to optimize coil winding techniques and processes to enhance efficiency, and improve overall quality.
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive inspections of finished coils and implement corrective actions for any deviations from specifications.
  • Experience working with Winding suppliers (Marsilli, Aumann, etc.).
  • Proficient in using measuring instruments to validate coil dimensions.
  • Ability to develop winding programs based on product drawings.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experienced in working within 2D & 3D CAD environments.
  • Knowledgeable in high and low volume manufacturing skills (Cycle time, quality control, efficiency, equipment selection, etc.).
  • Demonstrate ability to solve complex technical problems and see the solution implemented to a high level of accuracy & quality.
  • Able to follow general guidance on deliverables and self-guided to develop a path to completion.
  • Capable of working as a member of a team across several cross functional disciplines, including vendors.
