Manufacturing Engineer (Early Career Exceptional Talent)
About the role
Boom Supersonic is building the Overture supersonic airliner and the Superpower gas turbine, requiring precise manufacturing. This role builds the systems that ensure these machines meet design specifications.
Responsibilities
- Own a defined piece of the manufacturing operation, such as engine assembly, machining, tooling, or process development
- Work directly with machinists, technicians, manufacturing engineers, and build engineers to solve problems on the floor
- Build and improve processes, work instructions, and tooling to ensure complex hardware comes together reliably
- Partner with design engineering to make parts easier to build
- Iterate quickly, identifying issues, fixing them, and moving on to the next problem
Requirements
- A degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Internship or co-op where you made something real
- Hands-on manufacturing experience, including time in a shop, on a line, or building hardware
- Genuine curiosity about how things are made and how to best design for performance and manufacturability
- A track record of finishing hard things, both inside and outside of school

- Energetic about tackling difficult problems
- Comfortable working without a clear plan or direction
- An interest in the shop floor rather than conference rooms
Skills
- Strong mechanical and manufacturing skills
- Ability to work independently and solve complex problems

- Experience with quality control and inspection
