About the role

The Manufacturing Engineer will serve as a dedicated resource for Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives at the Jefferson City, TN facility. This role will lead and support CI projects focused on optimizing manufacturing processes, eliminating waste, and improving cycle time, throughput, efficiency, and overall operational performance. The Manufacturing Engineer will partner closely with production supervisors and Manufacturing Engineering teams to execute improvement events, implement facility standards, and drive sustainable improvements using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to JLG engineering standards and processes.
  • Support more senior engineers in the preparation of plants, designs, computation methods, and reporting.
  • Responsible for a project or part of a project of limited complexity; may manage multiple projects.
  • Provide technical assistance for prototype, pilot, or production builds.
  • Analyze space requirements, workflow, and design layout for equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Review and process engineering information through change notices, change proposals, continuous improvement requests, etc.
  • Participate in cost studies, project time estimation, and technical proposals.
  • Review legislative and regulatory proposals or actions to determine impact on projects.
  • Review and recommend fixture and tooling design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Engineering, or related field.
  • One (1) – two (2) or more years of experience.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading or supporting Continuous Improvement (CI) projects or Kaizen events in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools, including 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, waste elimination, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience identifying and implementing improvements related to cycle time, throughput, productivity, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Experience using data and metrics to identify improvement opportunities and measure results.
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt or Green Belt certification preferred.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with production supervisors, operators, and manufacturing engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of the heavy equipment, automotive, or high-volume manufacturing industry.

Working Conditions

  • Based in a manufacturing or production environment; may involve exposure to loud noise, dust, moving machinery, or temperature fluctuations.
  • May require standing for extended periods, repetitive motions, lifting items up to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, climbing, or using tools and equipment.
  • Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when required.
  • Visual and auditory acuity are needed for safe equipment operation and effective communication in a busy workspace.

Pay

Pay range: $73,200.00 – $117,800.00. The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education, skills, and equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
