Manufacturing Engineer - Composites

About the role

Lead Composites Manufacturing Engineer responsible for overseeing composite rocket motor hardware fabrication and assembly at a state-of-the-art facility.

Responsibilities

• Lead process improvement initiatives using Lean methodologies.
• Support facility transition and develop processes for advanced composite parts.
• Create detailed work instructions, procedures, PFMEAs, and JSA documentation.
• Provide technical guidance and training to teams.
• Analyze drawings and specifications to ensure robust design and manufacturing.
• Interface with support groups to ensure process accuracy, safety, and quality.
• Investigate nonconforming hardware and implement corrective actions.
• Present processes at customer reviews and manage process changes.
• Occasional travel and off-shift work may be required.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree with 9+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience; a graduate degree with 7+ years.

Skills

• Experience with surface prep, composite layup, tooling, structural bonding, and composite cure ovens.
• Knowledge of GD&T, CAD modeling, and operating manufacturing equipment like robots and autoclaves.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
