Responsibilities

  • Assist Manufacturing Engineers to prepare and maintain manufacturing bills of materials for all products (parent-component relationships, part numbers, quantity per) at 98% accuracy.
  • Track and coordinate with Scheduling, Tooling, and QC to ensure proper timing of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) for production at the required engineering level.
  • Prepare and maintain the part-numbering system, assigning part numbers to raw materials, components, subassemblies, and assemblies following form-fit-function rules.
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineers in developing and maintaining plant and equipment layouts, manufacturing flow charts, process plans, production standards, and engineering reports.
  • Maintain all current, pending, and obsolete Engineering files, including systems, documents, drawings, specifications, vendor files, and databases.
  • Work in compliance with TS16949 Standards.
  • Format, compile, and generate reports, graphs, correspondence, and computer files using word processing and spreadsheet skills.
  • Copy and distribute reports or forms as required.
  • Provide Manufacturing Engineering staff with performance indicators to monitor the effectiveness of efforts to improve manufacturing processes and achieve cost-saving goals.
  • Capture and upload photos to the company network as requested.
  • Develop and maintain all operator instructions; present drafts to Manufacturing Engineers and the AQP Team for review and approval.
  • Coordinate the exchange of operator instructions for engineering changes.
  • Provide information, reports, and other services to assist management and supervisors in efficient operation and decision-making.
  • Advise Management of potential problems and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain due diligence regarding environmental matters, minimize harmful accidents, and work in compliance with ISO 14001.
  • Follow environmental guidelines as outlined in job training requirements.
  • Work in compliance with all legislative requirements of the OHSA and fulfill specific Health & Safety responsibilities.

Requirements

  • College or university enrolment in mechanical engineering.
  • Supervisory and management skills, including interaction, communication, and knowledge of company policies and health and safety.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees in the organization.
  • Knowledge of assembly, tool-room, and press shop equipment.
  • Computer skills in databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Drafting and drawing skills (CadKey, AutoCad, and other presentation software).
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively in English, both written and spoken.
