Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

The Manufacturing Engineer develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards; recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods, and controls; and coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products. As the company expands, this role takes a lead role in capital equipment projects—from justification and layout through installation, commissioning, and standard work—and drives continuous improvement across the plant floor, with Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) as the scoreboard.

Responsibilities

• Develop, document, and improve manufacturing processes, methods, and controls in accordance with product specifications and ISO 9001:2015 quality standards.
• Translate design information into manufacturing information: ERP routings, SolidWorks models and drawings, work instructions, and fixturing.
• Carefully coordinate manufacturing launch for new or revised products, including prototype builds and first-article support.
• Support capital equipment projects from justification through commissioning: process capability review, floor layout, utilities coordination, installation planning, runoff/acceptance testing, and operator training material.
• Lead the design of automated and semiautomated process equipment, tooling, and fixtures.
• Develop standard work, setup procedures, and maintenance-relevant documentation for new equipment in partnership with the Maintenance team.
• Lead daily performance management through SQDC boards and metrics, and drive countermeasures when safety, quality, delivery, or cost misses target.
• Create a continuous improvement culture through Lean Manufacturing, structured problem solving, waste elimination, visual management, and employee engagement.
• Use production data (scrap, rework, cycle time, downtime) to identify, prioritize, and execute improvement projects.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective action on production and quality issues.
• Provide cost and leadtime estimates and technical information for customers in the form of quotes and project proposals.
• Serve as a technical interface with customers; translate customer needs into specific, buildable solutions.
• Design processes, tooling, and workstations with safety as a first requirement; support OSHA compliance and plant safety initiatives.
• Support the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system, including audits and corrective/preventive actions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and handson manufacturing experience.
• Minimum of 35 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD, 2D and 3D design.
• ERP system proficiency (routings, BOMs); Syteline or SAP preferred.
• Experience handling customer proposals, quotes, and pricing.
• Ability to interact effectively with customers, management, and inter and intradepartmental coworkers, including sales and production personnel.
• Heavy interaction and consultation with Production Supervisors.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.
