Responsibilities
- Apply technical knowledge and expertise in the development and implementation of new and improved manufacturing processes, procedures and equipment.
- Ensure that the design specifications and procurement of manufacturing equipment, tooling, fixtures etc. meet company requirements and objectives.
- Work with cross-functional teams throughout the entire product lifecycle.
- Collaborate with small teams on in-house development of novel and complex manufacturing equipment.
- Develop and implement changes to mitigate repetitive downtime.
- Partner with internal resources for in-house machinery upgrades and rebuilds.
- Understand and utilize robots (Fanuc preferred).
- Identify areas where automation can be utilized to achieve increased productivity.
- Design and develop new manufacturing processes.
- Create detailed Manufacturing Instructions to define new processes and document new equipment operation.
- Train technicians and line operators on manufacturing processes.
- Design production workstations for ergonomics and efficiency.
- Perform process analysis and capacity modeling.
- Deploy statistical control for key processes.
Skills
- Proficiency designing mechanical equipment, fixturing and tooling in CAD (Catia preferred, SolidWorks is also a plus).
- Proven Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience in CNC metal machining processes using CNC vertical machining centers and CNC lathes.
- Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
- Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
- Well organized with meticulous attention to detail.
- Mastery of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project.
Qualifications
- BS/MS in Engineering Discipline.
- 3+ years of experience as a hands-on mechanical/manufacturing engineer working in a manufacturing environment.
- 2-4 years of experience in CNC machining, CNC programming and cutting tool selection.
