Manufacturing Engineer

Responsibilities

• Apply technical knowledge and expertise in the development and implementation of new and improved manufacturing processes, procedures and equipment.
• Ensure that the design specifications and procurement of manufacturing equipment, tooling, fixtures etc. meet company requirements and objectives.
• Work with cross-functional teams throughout the entire product lifecycle.
• Collaborate with small teams on in-house development of novel and complex manufacturing equipment.
• Develop and implement changes to mitigate repetitive downtime.
• Partner with internal resources for in-house machinery upgrades and rebuilds.
• Understand and utilize robots (Fanuc preferred).
• Identify areas where automation can be utilized to achieve increased productivity.
• Design and develop new manufacturing processes.
• Create detailed Manufacturing Instructions to define new processes and document new equipment operation.
• Train technicians and line operators on manufacturing processes.
• Design production workstations for ergonomics and efficiency.
• Perform process analysis and capacity modeling.
• Deploy statistical control for key processes.

Skills

• Proficiency designing mechanical equipment, fixturing and tooling in CAD (Catia preferred, SolidWorks is also a plus).
• Proven Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Experience in CNC metal machining processes using CNC vertical machining centers and CNC lathes.
• Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
• Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
• Well organized with meticulous attention to detail.
• Mastery of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Engineering Discipline.
• 3+ years of experience as a hands-on mechanical/manufacturing engineer working in a manufacturing environment.
• 2-4 years of experience in CNC machining, CNC programming and cutting tool selection.
