About the Role

This position focuses on coordinating new product launches and continuous improvement activities within manufacturing, with special emphasis on welding. Responsibilities include manufacturing support for weld audits, floor issues, engineering changes, quality concerns, set-up reduction, cost improvement, tool and fixture design, and adherence to commercial and military weld requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering tasks and handle designated projects to directly support manufacturing operations.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing processes, including weld, metal finish, light assembly, painting/coating, and various inspection processes to meet internal and customer specifications.
  • Prepare, review, approve, and release written welding procedures in accordance with specifications and welding qualifications.
  • Qualify and document welding procedures.
  • Provide occasional oversight of welders and welding operators on critical weld operations.
  • Identify, design, procure, and implement appropriate fixtures, tooling, and/or process needs.
  • Coordinate activities with outside vendors and travel as necessary to meet with vendors and customers.
  • Confer with supervisors and managers to coordinate quality improvements and investigate root causes of quality problems to implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor employees for safe working conditions and suggest productivity improvements.
  • Participate on cross-functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing problems, ensuring continuous improvement of productivity, methods, processes, and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a similar technical degree.
  • Proven experience in reading AWS and Military weld specifications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience using CAD software, preferably ProE/Creo.
  • Able to interpret and communicate Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience in cross-functional team resolution of production fit and form issues, bill of material errors, and manufacturing routing changes using root cause analysis tools.

  • Occasionally works near moving mechanical machines and in atmospheric conditions exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, except in production facilities.

Required PPE: When in the production facility, safety glasses with side shields and protective footwear with steel toe are required. Hearing protection is required in designated areas.
