Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

Based in Houston, TX, you will be responsible for developing and implementing optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. You will recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods, and controls, and facilitate manufacturing implementation and production launch for new and existing products.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes, workflows, and production methods
  • Analyze production data to identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements
  • Design tooling, fixtures, and equipment to support manufacturing operations
  • Collaborate with design, quality, supply chain, and production teams to ensure manufacturability of products
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process maps, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Identify, justify, and coordinate the acquisition and implementation of capital equipment
  • Maintain the company's capital programs and capital assets
  • Work with manufacturing management to develop and implement effective plans to improve key performance indicators (KPIs) such as yield, cycle time, throughput, scrap, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
  • Plan, develop, and implement manufacturing processes that create flow and speed up production, through the introduction of automation systems and new technology
  • Maximize efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and workforce utilization
  • Support new product development (NPD) and production ramp-up activities
  • Lead lean activities in the plant, Kaizen activities, 5S Program, TPM, 8D and other
  • Assist in Environmental and Safety Compliance
  • Work with Facilities Manager to comply with all applicable standards: TCEQ, EPA & OSHA

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in assembly, machining, and electromechanical assembly
  • Experience with capital improvement justification and projects
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work well with others at multiple levels of the organization
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States – Sponsorship will not be provided

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3D Computer Aided Design (SolidWorks, Inventor,) with a focus on Jig and Fixture design
  • Model to CAM programming a plus
