About the role
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for process optimization of technical manufacturing operations, including machining and material movement. The role involves facilitating change management using Lean methodologies (e.g., 5S), creating and auditing standard work instructions, and assisting in capacity planning for assigned value streams.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Operations team to make operational adjustments as necessary, reviewing KPIs daily to ensure continued growth in productivity and efficiency.
- Create and modify work routers and bills of materials.
- Document standard work, including creation of work instructions, recording and analyzing cycle times, and value stream mapping.
- Initiate, manage, and lead large, complex technical improvement projects.
- Collaborate to plan and implement plant layouts and production equipment to maximize facility utilization and production efficiency.
- Apply lean principles to optimize work/process flow, including reducing machine set‑up and changeover times (SMED).
- Investigate and implement new technologies to digitalize and automate product manufacturing and machine connectivity.
- Implement the digital factory process across the organization.
- Leverage the company’s ERP system (Syteline) to analyze manufacturing data.
- Initiate and lead kaizen and value‑stream‑mapping events, applying lean manufacturing principles.
- Positively influence personnel during process changes and successfully manage those changes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 2+ years of manufacturing operations engineering experience.
- Practical knowledge of continuous improvement practices and formal problem‑solving methodologies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools for creating spreadsheets, standard work instructions, and other documents.
- Experience creating work routers and bills of material.
- Experience successfully leading projects with cross‑functional teams.
Preferred qualifications
- Knowledge of babbitting technology.
- CNC and manual machining experience.
- Experience with the manufacturing of bearings and seals for compressors, turbines, or related products.
- Experience with custom engineered components in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
