MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Create new part designs to reduce installation time, increase build quality and prevent future warranty claims.
• Review and help streamline production processes to reduce build time and increase quality by removing waste from the process.
• Analyze current production processes to find waste in the process.
• Formulate with team members a process to reduce found waste.
• Review drawings from body manufacturers to ensure fitment during installation.
• Work with chassis procurement team to implement measures that will decrease production time.
• Create production drawings for the final assemblers to use.
• Create layout drawings for the sales team to secure customer orders.
• Perform any other assignments as required.

Required Skills And Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
• Ability to read and comprehend part drawings and wiring or hydraulic schematics.
• Microsoft Office software – especially Excel and Word.
• Ability to read and interpret documents; ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of organization.

Preferred Skills And Qualifications

• Two (2) years of engineering experience in manufacturing environment.
• Two (2) years of engineering experience in automotive design related field.
• Two (2) years of engineering experience in vocational truck assembly.
• Able to identify complex build challenges and implement solutions quickly and correctly.
• Able to weld.
• Able to understand 12V electrical systems.
• Able to understand hydraulic plumbing systems.

• Acceptable written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with a customer service focus with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving and results.
• Must have initiative and the ability act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives.
• Must possess a strong desire to learn.
• Mechanical skills / experience with heavy trucks and heavy equipment is a plus.

Physical Demands

• Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
• Regularly exposed to extreme cold, and extreme heat.
• Exposure to noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Work Environment
