Manufacturing Engineer

This engineering position supports product production in the plant and reports to the Plant Engineering Manager. The manufacturing engineer works both independently and as part of a team to maintain and improve processes and systems used in manufacturing, while serving as a subject-matter expert for technical planning throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

• Develops, improves, and monitors standards, processes, and performance to reduce costs and improve production operations
• Analyzes production data to identify bottlenecks, quality improvements, and cost-reduction opportunities
• Provides objective, functional, and financial engineering guidance on capital expenditures to site management and implementation support
• Develops and maintains SOPs and Work Instructions
• Provides lean manufacturing guidance to operations through coordination with the site Lean Manager
• Investigates production issues using a systematic approach to root cause and corrective actions (8D problem-solving methodology)
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Associate’s degree in a technical field with equivalent technical experience
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
• Thorough knowledge of manufacturing concepts
• Experience within a lean manufacturing environment preferred
• Proven 8D problem-solving experience

Skills

• Prior experience within a manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing (a plus)
• Proficiency in welding and assembly processes
• Ability to coordinate work activities and manage multiple tasks and priorities
• Effective communication with all levels of plant personnel
