Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for daily structures production support. This role is for a creative, solutions-oriented engineer who takes ownership of manufacturing processes to drive world-class Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery performance.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily support to manufacturing operations and related support teams to assure technically correct manufacturing and product flow, ensuring quality, on-time delivery (OTD), and production costs.
• Work cross-functionally with operations, quality, design engineering, and other teams to define manufacturing work instructions, equipment, tools, materials, and training.
• Utilize project management techniques and tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements.
• Play a key role in the non-conformance process, securing measures for root cause analyses, corrective, and preventive actions.
• Support continuous improvements in manufacturing processes to align with customer quality, cost, and demand requirements.
• Establish and provide necessary documentation for strategic operations programs and customer programs; participate in project reviews as needed.
• Proactively support and coach production technicians through frontline support using an integrated project team approach; provide training material (software and hardware) as needed.
• Establish standard work practices across manufacturing and eliminate waste to increase productivity.
• Develop and verify new jigs, tooling, equipment, parts, and processes to meet requirements.
• Actively participate in the change management process, driving and implementing process or design changes; support improvement of business processes.
• Work with international colleagues to evaluate, improve, and transfer the latest state processes; maintain standardization across the company portfolio.
• Provide overall operations daily support, including Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Design to Cost/Design for Manufacturing (DtC/DfM) inputs, and support to programs and engineering.
• Ensure on-time milestone fulfillment and readiness of manufacturing equipment and documents in cooperation with project managers and stakeholders.
• Proactively manage production means and improvements.
• Track KPIs: Direct Rate, Deliverables on-track/delivered on-time, Production Line(s) Station Tracker.

Requirements

• B.S. degree or similar experience in a related engineering field with extensive relevant experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on Manufacturing Engineering experience in a complex manufacturing setting.
• Insight into quality and safety standards including AS9100 and OSHA or similar.
• Space or aerospace experience.
• Production line leadership experience.
• Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma knowledge/experience; experience with SAP or other ERP, MS Office.
• Experience with MES, CAD, and other relevant complex software.
• Solution-driven, customer-oriented, and passionate about team success.
• Strong organizational, coordination, communication, and teamwork skills.
