Manufacturing Engineer
About the role
The Manufacturing Engineer will be directly responsible for the research, identification, and data collection related to production processes that ensure sustained, high-quality production. They will identify advanced improvement processes or projects that significantly impact organizational objectives. This role will collaborate with production technicians, participate in continuous improvement activities, and address safety and quality issues.
Responsibilities
- Identify established setup and operating parameters for production lines and compare to actual operating conditions during production.
- Collaborate with production technicians to identify lines not running within specifications, document operating issues, and notify appropriate supervisors.
- Coordinate with New Product Development and Engineering on the launch of new products.
- Conduct problem-solving activities with other CI resources and plant engineers to address safety / quality issues at the site.
- Investigate, research, and propose sustainable improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Conduct root cause analysis to determine metrics, troubleshoot manufacturing/business and assembly issues, material flow, project plans, production capacity, facility design.
- Carry out advanced data collection and analysis for process mapping, develop budgets and cost analysis to determine project feasibility.
- Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities.
- Coordinate process re-engineering activities to improve efficiencies and consistency within the operation.
- Maintain an accident-free workplace while complying with OSHA standards.
- Aid in the development of management system processes and metric tracking initiatives.
- Research and actively participate in the development of quality control objectives, activities, or procedures to resolve production problems, maximize production reliability, or minimize costs.
- Monitor and benchmark performance against the business strategy metrics and collaborate with the site maintenance and operations on continuous improvement opportunities.
- Facilitate training of operators to create products effectively and efficiently on time-in full and on budget.
- Review activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives.
- Meet and exceed assigned KPI metrics and regularly review performance with the team.
- Be visible, approachable, and a role model leader for your team and within the site.
- Improve product quality, lead time, turnover, safety, and performance.
- Communicate effectively both with the team, site, and the larger Manufacturing Operations team.
- Perform other activities as assigned.
Requirements
- A University or College degree/diploma in a related field such as mechanical, electrical or Industrial Engineering required.
- 3+ years of experience required.
- MUST BE ABLE TO TRAVEL 50% to other manufacturing plants.
- Above average skills with Microsoft suite of tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent professional presentation and verbal communication skills.
- Skilled at identifying customer needs and designing business processes and solutions to meet internal/external customer requirements.
- Demonstrates innovative thinking and initiative in the analysis, planning, and development of projects.
- Sense of urgency and self-motivation.
- Ability to work independently.
