Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer Job Description This Manufacturing Engineer role focuses on serving as a subject matter expert in CNC machining and leading complex, high-impact engineering programs within a precision manufacturing environment. You will design and optimize robust manufacturing processes, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and mentor other engineers while managing multiple projects and cross-functional initiatives. The position requires deep technical expertise in CNC and mechanical engineering, strong process engineering capabilities, and the ability to translate customer and regulatory requirements into validated processes and documentation. Responsibilities Serve as a subject matter expert in CNC machining and lead high-impact engineering programs across the site.Manage complex manufacturing processes and drive process improvements from concept through implementation.Lead complex, high-impact programs, including multi-line production launches, automation and robotics initiatives, and capital equipment selection and justification.Apply deep technical knowledge in CNC and mechanical engineering to develop, optimize, and standardize manufacturing processes.Independently identify root causes of process issues and implement effective corrective actions.Lead, mentor, and train engineering team members on standards, best practices, and technical excellence.Prioritize workload effectively and manage multiple engineering projects independently, ensuring on-time delivery and quality outcomes.Design robust manufacturing processes and oversee their implementation on the production floor.Design and build fixtures and workholding solutions that support precision CNC machining and repeatable manufacturing performance.Identify and implement Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles and collaborate with customers, using strong communication and negotiation skills to align on requirements and solutions.Develop, standardize, and review complex work instructions, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance, and mentor others on technical writing best practices.Lead and review engineering and supplier change requests (ECRs), evaluate cross-departmental impacts, and mentor others on ECR processes and best practices.Lead the design and optimization of routers and bills of materials (BOMs) to ensure consistency, accuracy, and adherence to standards across products.Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness in precision manufacturing operations. Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent technical experience.Minimum of 5 years of relevant manufacturing or process engineering experience in precision manufacturing.Advanced knowledge of precision CNC machining, including multi-axis (4-axis and 5-axis) operations.Strong manufacturing engineering and process engineering experience, including routing and process definition.Proficiency in CNC programming concepts and optimization within a precision manufacturing environment.Proficient in the use of an ERP system for managing manufacturing data, routing, and bills of materials.Demonstrated success delivering large-scale process improvements or capital projects and leading cross-site initiatives.Advanced knowledge of GD&T and blueprint reading for complex precision components.Advanced skill in designing fixtures and workholding solutions for CNC machining.Ability to translate customer and contract requirements into validated manufacturing processes and documentation.Experience with ISO13485, ISO9001, AS9100, or NADCAP quality and regulatory standards.Strong experience in lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and process improvement methodologies.Ability to identify root causes and implement corrective actions independently.Strong communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills to work effectively with customers and cross-functional teams. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in aerospace, medical, or other highly regulated industries is preferred.Experience leading multi-line production launches and cross-functional engineering programs.Experience in automation and robotics as part of manufacturing process development and optimization.Experience selecting, specifying, and implementing capital equipment for precision manufacturing.Ability to mentor and train other engineers in standards, best practices, and technical writing.Comfort working with complex work instructions, routers, and BOMs, ensuring consistency and adherence to standards.Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects. Work Environment The role operates in a precision manufacturing environment that relies heavily on advanced CNC machining technologies, including 4-axis and 5-axis equipment, as well as fixtures and specialized workholding solutions. You will work closely with production, quality, and supply chain teams while using ERP systems to manage routings, bills of materials, and process documentation. The environment emphasizes lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and adherence to rigorous quality standards such as ISO13485, ISO9001, AS9100, and NADCAP. Work typically involves a mix of office-based engineering activities—such as process design, documentation, and change management—and time on the manufacturing floor to support process implementation, troubleshooting, and optimization.
