About the role
The L3Harris Space Superiority and Imaging site in Rochester, NY is a leader in designing and producing advanced space and airborne systems. The Operations Organization is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support key programs and help scale production processes for rapid growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute manufacturing engineering activities for the assembly, test, and integration of electromechanical and optomechanical assemblies on assigned program(s)
- Author written work instructions from technical documentation and create manufacturing procedures and routers
- Lead design changes by coordinating with design engineering to address technical, operational, and obsolescence issues
- Interface with technicians and other operations personnel throughout hardware integration and test
- Propose and lead process improvement projects focused on optimization of manufacturing processes
- Estimate and track manufacturing costs; use that data to initiate continuous improvement activities
- Support capacity planning, space layout requirements, and risk reduction for upcoming programs
- Lead root cause analysis for manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions
- Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-sector, site-located teams—including design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production—to ensure product manufacturability and alignment with business objectives
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to early career professionals
- Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and quality to integrate design and process integrity processes such as xFMEAs and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience; Or, Graduate degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience; Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience
- Knowledge and/or experience with the aerospace industry or manufacturing engineering producing spaceflight hardware and PCBAs or cables
- Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 and/or AS9100 quality management systems
- Knowledge and/or understanding of circuit analysis, concurrent engineering, and operational concepts of new product development
- A developed area of expertise/subject matter expertise Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification
- Tool and/or fixture design

Pay
The salary range for this role in New York state is $76,500-$142,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
