About the Role

The Manufacturing Engineer I performs functions in the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of manufacturing operations. This role prepares plans, conducts support studies, and provides analysis or tests in the development of manufacturing operations. Responsibilities are diverse and require sound technical judgment, utilizing lean manufacturing to reduce cost and cycle time. Specialization may include Manufacturing, Industrial, System, Mechanical, Electrical, or Aeronautics Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Resolves engineering problems by collecting and analyzing information; researching, analyzing, adapting, and modifying engineering techniques; recommending solutions.
  • Reviews drawings, schematics, and diagrams; evaluates installations, components, materials, and suppliers; resolves design integration issues; develops specifications and safety standards.
  • Applies lean manufacturing skill set and knowledge to implement lean methodologies and tools.
  • Establishes labor standards, line balancing, and factory layouts to improve material flow and labor efficiencies to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost targets.
  • For Electrical Engineers: Evaluates electrical systems, avionics, products, components, and applications by applying knowledge of electricity and materials.
  • Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment and practices; solicits observations of stakeholders and applies Lean Manufacturing techniques.
  • Assures compliance with all applicable specifications and regulations.
  • Performs duties as assigned, incorporating Lean and P3E processes into daily activities.
  • Strives for continuous improvement of processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (required).
  • Advanced Engineering Degree and/or Six Sigma – Green Belt Certification (preferred).
  • A minimum of 1 year of aircraft manufacturing, maintenance, or repair experience; 3+ years desired.
  • Adept at analyzing, interpreting, and resolving information using analytical and statistical tools.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in planning practices and tools.
  • Experience with Lotus Notes, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MES, CATIA, and SAP.
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Presentation skills and utilization of Lean Production concepts.
  • Systemic vision, data analysis, and consolidation abilities.
  • Ability to cope with deadlines and pressured situations.
  • Ability to interact with senior management, staff, and production/technical personnel.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, state, and federal regulations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and different shifts if required.
  • Subject to random drug and alcohol testing under FAA regulations.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Foreign travel may be required; ability to obtain a passport and a Brazilian visa.
