About the role
The Optical Communications segment of Corning has evolved to provide comprehensive optical solutions across the communications industry. This includes products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services like video, data, and voice communications.
Responsibilities
- Beginning of shift check with Manufacturing Coordinator regarding assignments and production priorities.
- Assemble shop papers, MI’s, and raw materials prior to start up.
- Start up and change overs are per standard operating procedure.
- Maintain quality control by monitoring lines while running and performing necessary PQA checks.
- Ensure work space is 5S ready, clean, and orderly.
- Report non-conformance and perform weekly associate maintenance.
- Proactively report any equipment issues and assist with preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Assist with research and development experiments as requested.
- Load and unload raw materials, handle materials safely according to environmental and hazardous materials protocols.
- Receive, store, issue raw materials and miscellaneous items for production use while maintaining inventory accuracy.
- Label and package reels for shipment to customers.
- Verify QC paperwork, barcode, and data sheets with reel tags.
- Inspect reels physically via traverse, damage, and print statement.
- Work in a team environment to optimize output of quality product, assist others as necessary, and promote safety awareness.
Requirements
- High School or General Education Diploma (GED).
- Fork lift experience.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of machine capabilities.
- Shift: 12 hour rotating shifts.
Working Conditions
- Good working conditions.
- Heavy lifting in rare instances typically assisted.
- Majority of time light lifting is involved.
- Some exposure to elements of dirt, dust, fumes, and noise, but none disagreeable.
Pay and Benefits
- Rewarding hourly rate range: $21.50 - $26.25.
