Manufacturing Associate Night Shift - Hickory

About the role

The Optical Communications segment of Corning is evolving to offer a comprehensive range of optical solutions. This role is within the manufacturing team, focusing on the cable manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

• Beginning of shift check with Manufacturing Coordinator regarding assignments and production priorities.
• Assemble shop papers, MI’s, and raw materials prior to start up.
• Start up and change overs are per standard operating procedure.
• Maintain quality control by performing necessary PQA checks and reporting non-conformance.
• Ensure workspace is 5S ready, clean, and orderly.
• Perform weekly associate maintenance.
• Report any equipment issues promptly.
• Perform preventive maintenance procedures, troubleshoot when necessary.
• Assist Research & Development & Engineering with experiments as requested.
• Loading and unloading raw materials.
• Conduct consistent material handling following environmental and hazardous materials protocols.
• Receive and store materials, issue raw materials and miscellaneous items for production use, maintain inventory accuracy using cycle counts and daily transactions.
• Properly label and package reels for shipment to customers.
• Verify QC paperwork, barcode, and data sheets with reel tags.
• Inspect reels physically via traverse, damage, and print statements.
• Work in a team environment to optimize output, assist others, and promote safety awareness.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of machine capabilities.
• Candidates must be trained and up to date on forklift certifications.

Pay

The range for this position is $21.50 hourly rate - $26.25 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on various job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
