Manufacturing Assembly Trainee (Fabrication)

About the Role

Under close supervision, you will operate deburring machinery and handle materials while adhering to Bobrick’s standards for safety, product quality, productivity, and policies. Continuous skill development is expected to keep pace with changing technology.

Responsibilities

• Understand and apply the Four Level Defect Grading System; report and contribute to problem-solving to correct or prevent quality defects and errors.
• Follow verbal instructions to set up equipment and verify work quality and quantity meet Bobrick standards.
• Select and set up air-operated hand tools and fixtures on the workbench.
• Participate in and recommend new and improved work methods.
• Assist with material handling operations.
• Perform part deburring using automated equipment.
• Maintain the production process in a capable and aligned state; work toward continuous improvement.
• Keep the work area clean, position materials correctly, and follow safe operating procedures to maintain a healthy and safe environment.
• Complete weekly pre-use inspection checklists on equipment.
• Stack completed product on skids.
• Demonstrate proficiency on support side presses and fladder.
• Operate 221 cell press, welder, and cartoner machines.
• Operate efficiently (90% or higher) to progress to the next grade level.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Self-Balancing Flow manufacturing knowledge or experience is an asset.
• Good knowledge of shop and safety practices.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Strong oral and written communication skills for clear, concise messaging.
• Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, rates, ratios, and percentages.
• Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands

• Regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently stand, walk, climb or balance, and talk or hear.
• Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 50 to over 100 pounds with assistance (e.g., lift, jack, handcart, walkie, or co-worker).
• Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Required to wear personal protective equipment: eye protection, hearing protection, safety shoes, and safety sleeves.

Work Environment

• Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock.
• Frequent exposure to vibrations.
• Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions.
• Loud noise level in the work environment.

Schedule

Monday to Friday: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. Overtime as required.
